District 6 is one of 37 school districts throughout Illinois that applied for, and has been awarded a property tax grant and will receive a portion of $53 million in property tax relief funds. The grant program is part of the state's Evidence-Based Funding (EBF) program. District 6 has been awarded slightly over $1.2 million specifically for property tax abatement.  Additionally, at this month's Regular Board of Education Meeting, the Board of Education expressed its ongoing commitment to seeking tax payer relief opportunities such as the property tax grants that the district has successfully applied for, and received, for the past few years.  The Board also provided a statement regarding HB2408, pending legislation related to nuclear waste storage, and a potential intergovernmental agreement.  The Zion Elementary District 6 Board statement regarding HB2408 can be found below.
