Learning Assistance Program
The Learning Assistance Program provides academic support to
students identified as being eligible to such services as learning
disabled, educable mentally handicapped, behavior disordered, other
health impaired, or traumatically brain injured. Services range from
complete inclusion with consultation to the classroom teacher to
self-contained classroom settings. Each student's needs are
determined individually and placement is based on the individualized
educational plan that is developed based on the student needs.District 6 provides placement for children between the ages of 3 and 15 years of age. Services are available in each of the elementary buildings, the Early Childhood Center at Lakeview School and at Central Junior High. Supportive services of psychology, social work, speech-language pathology services, occupational therapy, and physical therapy are provided to students based on their individualized educational plans.
Additional services are provided through the Special Education District of Lake County, including itinerant services, classes in District 6 or neighboring district schools, and alternative programs.
