Learning Assistance Program
The Learning Assistance Program provides academic support to students identified as being eligible to such services as learning disabled, educable mentally handicapped, behavior disordered, other health impaired, or traumatically brain injured. Services range from complete inclusion with consultation to the classroom teacher to self-contained classroom settings. Each student's needs are determined individually and placement is based on the individualized educational plan that is developed based on the student needs.

District 6 provides placement for children between the ages of 3 and 15 years of age. Services are available in each of the elementary buildings, the Early Childhood Center at Lakeview School and at Central Junior High. Supportive services of psychology, social work, speech-language pathology services, occupational therapy, and physical therapy are provided to students based on their individualized educational plans.

Additional services are provided through the Special Education District of Lake County, including itinerant services, classes in District 6 or neighboring district schools, and alternative programs.

Parents having concerns about their child's progress should contact the classroom teacher.
